LoCoBrits is a mailing list that operates much like a public bulletin board or a news group. When a subscriber sends a message to LoCoBrits, a copy of that message is sent to every member of the mailing list. If any of these members decide to reply to the message, that response is also sent to the entire list. This allows all list members, or "subscribers" the opportunity to follow a discussion or contribute further to an ongoing discussion.
An example: Let's suppose Mark wants to get a new digital camera, but has never tried one. He remembers that he subscribed to the LoCoBrits mailing list, so he posts a message asking if anyone owns or has tried any digital cameras, and if they have a recommendation. He might get back several answers from members who like or dislike several brands, and every subscriber will be able to read each side of the conversation. Then another reader might chime in with a supporting opinion, or refute a statement someone else posted. This series of messages is known as a "thread".
There are many international car specific mailing lists available on the Internet, but the LoCoBrits mailing list is only open to members of the Lorain County British Car Club. You can feel right at home discussing your LBC concerns, questions, problems and more, knowing that the British car enthusiasts you already know are the only ones reading your messages. When you post a message to this list, your message will be sent to all other LoCo Brits members who subscribe.
First though, you need to know how to join, or "subscribe", to the LoCoBrits list. (Remember, this is different than renewing your club membership. You must sign up to participate.)
To subscribe to the LoCoBrits list, send email to server@ncmugohio.org with "subscribe LoCoBrits" in the subject or body of your message. That's all there is to it! Now you are a subscriber, and can either sit back and read what others are writing to the list, or join in with a message of your own.
After you subscribe, you will receive a message confirming your subscription, and a copy of the list commands, rules, and how to unsubscribe. Please keep a copy of this confirmation.
When you are ready to send a question, comment, suggestion, or whatever to LoCoBrits, send an email message to locobrits@locobrits.com, and be sure to add a descriptive subject. Remember, you have to send messages using the email account you subscribed with.
UPDATE: There is now an option for you to subscribe from one address, and have the option to send messages from another. For example, if you subscribed from your home email address, but remember at your office that you wanted to ask a question, you can now send messages from the office email address. The postings from the list, however, will only be sent to your original subscription. If you would like to have this option set up for your account, just send me
If you decide you no longer wish to remain on the LoCoBrits mailing list, simply send email to server@ncmugohio.org with "unsubscribe LoCoBrits" in the subject or body of your message.

The list is an easy method to broadcast information, comments, or questions to the entire membership without the need to wait for the next meeting. Is there a change to the Friday night venue? Post it on the list, and everyone will know right away! That's all there is to it. Have fun, enjoy the list, and don't hesitate to jump right in.
